March 8 – 14 Progress Report and Goals

All in all I can say this week was a bit of a washout for me as far as my weekly goals getting accomplished. No finishes to report, but some progress was made.

I did get some progress on my Star Crossed Plaid Quilt. It should be ready for binding mid week.

I only got one more row done on my socks and realized I had made an error back at the beginning, so I dropped them off the needles and started fresh with some new wool.

Fresh wool to start a pair of socks,

My rag rug is coming along, but I’ve used all my strips and need to cut more. It’s about one fourth of the size I need.

I did NOT get my Progress Quilting 11.5 Challenge done. It is not a concern because the group I am doing it for is not gathering donations for their auction until the end of the month. It is pieced and I’m just putting the rows together.

Sneak peek of some of the fabrics

I can’t share the photos yet because the blocks are made from one of the squirrels this week; yes, another pattern test!

As I mentioned in an earlier post I had not one, but two squirrels run by me. I have an impossible time turning down requests for pattern testing. I think it’s due to the fact that I enjoy seeing what everyone is working on and helping someone accomplish a goal. So I was completely side tracked one day pulling fabric and measuring to ensure I had enough and changing the pallet several times. I’m still not sure I am satisfied so I will wait until I’m ready to cut to take pictures.

Thursday was taken up with medical stuff. I had a follow up check up on my eyes. No scar tissue and healing is coming along just fine. I had a call to see my doctor regarding an EEG I had done. I’m off to see the neurologist the first week of April. It seems like medical issues just continue on for a bit longer. I’m so done with having issues! Then I had an appointment for physiotherapy! Finally good news! My therapist changed my exercise routine and added more. Then he told me I only need one more appointment because I have done my work and progressed well enough that he doesn’t think he can help any more. I just need to continue exercising and strengthening my shoulder and arm to get full use of it again!

I was teaching on Saturday, but only had two of our group make it. Spring colds, husbands needing to be taken care of and changing work schedules interfered with our day! I helped one of my quilters cut her next quilt (Accuquilt cutter and dies to the rescue). Once I showed Lori how to use the system, she was off and running! Marcy was working on an embroidery project so I managed to spend some time working on my Project Quilting Challenge Quilt and on my project for the Quilt Qwazy Queens Hop.

These bits and pieces are now all cut, piecing is progressing and appliqué pieces are finished! I’m doing the happy dance today.

Goals for March 8 – 14 are:

1. Satisfy the mighty squirrel and get the pattern test fabric pulled, cut and pieced.

2. Get the binding and label on Star Crossed Plaid.

3. Finish the top for my project for Project Quilting 11.5 Give It Away Challenge. if I can manage to quilt it and get the binding on I’d be happy.

4. Finish my Quilt Qwazy Queens Hop project.

5. Take DH to see the surgeon about his knee replacement on Tuesday.

6. Keep knitting my socks.

7. Cut more strips for my rag rug.

8. Attend a workshop at our Guild on Saturday. We are starting a crochet pattern that looks like too much fun and is being taught by one of our newer Guild members. I’d like to progress more than just doing rag rugs and granny squares!

Again Thomas the Train keeps running through my brain, “ I think I can, I think I can!”

I’m at home today, instead of attending our Guild’s monthly meeting. Woke up with the sniffles and a headachy feeling so rather than share a cold, or worrying people about the virus, home it is, knitting and playing with fabric between drinking gallons of tea and water and tucking in with a blanket to surf the web.

What are you working on this week? Do you have set goals? Enjoy your days and do spend some time fondling fabric (or wool) and remembering to wash your hands lots,

🤧 Carol

  1. I have set goals and they’ll be up tomorrow. You did well to push things along as much as you did, with so many outside things like doctors checking in. Best of luck with this week’s goals!

  2. Got my Project Quilting challenge finished yesterday…ended up with 3 items! I need to finish cutting on the mystery quilt I’m doing…did the sewing requirement for the month, just need to cut them all in two! I also only have 98 more hexies to piece before I can play with layout on my OBW. Hope I can make some progress…you did great this week!

  4. So many fun projects you are working on! I love knitting wool socks but haven’t made any at all this winter. Now spring is on its way so I probably won’t get to it until next fall! LOL I totally understand squirrel projects. They keep me off track,, but they are fun aren’t they? Thanks for sharing your projects on Main Crush Monday!
